CoMag® Clarification System

CoMag is a patented solids and precipitated particulate removal process that produces an effluent equivalent to ultra-filtration at a fraction of the capital and operating cost of conventional filtration alternatives.

Primary applications in the industrial and municipal water treatment markets include tertiary wastewater treatment, phosphorus/nutrient removal, recycle-reuse water production, process water production, CSO management, BOD/COD reduction, solids removal, and most all other requirements for particulate contamination removal.

The CoMag process combines enhanced chemical coagulation and flocculation; the proven advantages of high-rate, ballasted clarification; and the fine particulate filtration capabilities of high gradient magnetic separation.

CoMag extends the advantages of conventional ballasted clarification to enable significantly higher surface overflow rates (SOR). CoMag clarification is remarkably rapid. The advantages are distinctive: rapid clarification equates to low hydraulic retention times which enable the use of smaller clarifiers for a given flow; smaller clarifiers make for a smaller overall plant footprint, and thereby, lower installed costs.

The high gradient magnetic filtration provides an additional polishing mechanism when high levels of contaminant removal are required. Unlike conventional filter solutions that can plug and foul, CoMag’s magnetic filtration is an “open pore” solution that can capture particulate as small as 0.026 µm in diameter.
