Microfilter

Johnson Screens^® Microfilter (MRT) is a semi submerged, rotating drum filter with the filter mesh constructed out of polyester membrane. It is best suited for filtering large volumes of water with very low suspended solids. The filtering range typically is from 18 to 500 microns.  The Microfilter is extensively applied to filter intake water from streams and lakes for both municipal (tertiary treatment or polishing) and industrial applications (aquaculture, algae removal etc.).

The MRT has a horizontal rotary screen drum with one closed end and the other open end.  The closed end rests on a central driven axis while the open end rests on two wheels above water level. In operation the screen drum is semi-submerged with its axis under water level. The drum is a stainless steel structure lined with polypropylene panels with a polyester membrane on the surface. All MRT panels are the same size, while polyester membrane openings are selected according to the application.

The MRT has a protective top cover, a wash system fed by a high pressure pump to keep the membrane clean and an internal trough to discharge the filtered solids along with the wash water.
