Because of their high-volume flow and minimal pressure drop, radial flow systems are often used in catalytic refining processes. In its simplest form, a radial flow system consists of two concentric screens with an annulus filled with treatment media. 

Johnson Screens has recently developed a patented screen system, called the OptiMiser^® system that combines the process efficiencies of an outer basket with the installation and maintenance advantages of standard scallops. It maintains uniform bed thickness in order to make maximum use of the catalyst and optimize flow through the bed. 

Johnson Screens^® Vee-Wire^® scallops are a highly effective means to direct inlet flow in radial flow processes. Compared to a single large outer basket, installation and repair can be much faster and simpler with these individual screens. 

Our gas/liquid distributor trays/mixing chambers are key components in the primary refinery applications of hydrocracking, hydrotreating and hydrodesulphurization. 

High-performance trays and mixing chambers provide excellent mixing of incoming gas and liquid flows.
